The air was thick with rust and the smell of stagnant water as Adam woke up, his head pounding against the cold tile floor. Across the room, a man in a bloody straitjacket screamed, his voice echoing off the cracked mirrors. A low mechanical hum began to vibrate through the floorboards, followed by the slow, rhythmic creaking of heavy chains. As the first massive iron ball swung into view, slicing through the air with terrifying momentum, Adam realized that the only thing standing between him and a crushed skull was his own ability to act.
